Una mirada al surgimiento del turismo en Pátzcuaro

El turismo en Pátzcuaro, como actividad económica, tuvo su origen y primer impulso desde finales del siglo XIX, a partir de la puesta en marcha del tramo ferroviario de Morelia a Pátzcuaro, cuando distintos empresarios apostaron por invertir en servicios de hospedaje, alimentación y transporte destinados al turismo. Sin embargo, la inestabilidad de la Revolución Mexicana cortó la inercia del desarrollo turístico. Fue hasta que el General Lázaro Cárdenas del Rio tomó la gubernatura del estado que se implementaron estrategias, se decretaron leyes y se hicieron mejoras en la ciudad, con el objeto de que ésta fuera un foco de atracción para el turismo nacional y extranjero, y que permitiera a la población tener mayores ingresos económicos.

Abstract: Patzcuaro tourism as an economic activity, originated and had its first impulse from the late nineteenth century, from the opening of the railway section of Morelia Patzcuaro, when different entrepreneurs bet to invest in hosting services, food and transportation for tourism. However, the instability of the Mexican Revolution cut the inertia of tourism development. Until General Lazaro Cardenas del Rio took the governorship of the state, strategies were implemented, laws were enacted and improvements were made in the city, in order that this was an attraction for domestic and foreign tourists, and to allow the people have higher incomes.
